"Peg" Parker

Sarah "Peg" Parker, the daughter of the late Robert and Cossie Ellis Sanders, was born in Parma on Dec. 19, 1921 and died at her home in Essex on March 6, 2002, at the age of 80. Mrs. Parker moved Essex in 1954. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Bernie. On April 29, 1921 she was united in marriage to Fonnie Roscoe Parker. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1991. Surviving are three sons, Kenneth Parker of Leaf River, Ill., Larry Parker of Puxico, and Kevin Parker of Essex; three daughters, Carol Shirkey of Bloomfield, Sue Henson of Fingers, Tenn. and Phyllis Gregory of Greenville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Sanders of Chaffee; two sisters, Pansy Welch of Vidalia, La. and Stella Carroll of Chaffee. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nora Woolem and Mae Breece; and one brother, Bill Sanders. Visitation will be held at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, March 8 from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Ward of Essex officiating. Interment will follow at the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
