Augie H. Talley of Brownwood, son of the late Benjamin and Stella Deckard Talley, was born Aug. 22, 1923 at Zalma and died at his home on Monday, March 4, 2002, at the age of 78. Augie served in the United States Army during World War II and retired as a self-employed mechanic. He was united in marriage to Betty Jo Lemons on March 21, 1981 at Gipsy, she survives. Other survivors include four sons, Sam Talley of Cape Girardeau, Kenny Talley of Brownwood, Jimmy Talley of Advance and Trennis "Tooter" Talley of Dexter; four step-sons, Johnnie Lemons of Advance, Joey Lemons of Clarksville, Tenn., Tim Lemons of Mainz, Germany and Paul Lemons of Arab; two step-daughters, Terry LeVart and Kathy Holt, both of Poplar Bluff; six brothers, Manford Talley and Doyle Talley, both of Gipsy, Willard "Wig" Talley of St. Louis, Lee Roy Talley of Alton, Ill., Glen Dale Talley of Collinsville, Ill. and Dean Talley of Creve Couer; three sisters, Mildred Buehler of Gipsy, Marie Carter of Collinsville, Ill. and Lena May Spears of St. Louis; 22 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, two infant sisters, and one grandson, Shawn Talley. Visitation will be held at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance on Wednesday, March 6 from 11:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. in the Morgan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Winchester officiating. Interment will follow at the Berrong Cemetery in Gipsy with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of arrangements.
