Fred R. Brown

Fred R. Brown, son of the late Charles B. Brown and Carrie Blankenship Brown, was born on Aug. 26, 1911 at Dexter and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on March 1, 2002, at the age of 90. Mr. Brown was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bernie, a retired farmer and diesel mechanic, a 50 year member of the Bernie Masonic Lodge, a member of the St. Louis Valley Scottish Rite and Shriner. He was united in marriage to Daisy Pyle on July 26, 1994 at Dexter. Mrs. Brown survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Jim Brown of Hallsville, Mo.; by two daughters, Barbara Mills of Dexter and Shirley Miller of Sikeston; by six grandchildren; by six great-grandchildren; and by one great-great-grandchild. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Edward Brown; by four brothers, Victor Brown, Arthur Brown, Earl Brown, and Charley Brown; by two sisters, Margaret Davis and Marie Tillman. Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie from 5 - 8 p.m., Saturday, March 2. A Masonic Service was conducted at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted, today, Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Knapp officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of arrangements.
