Emma W. Pounders, daughter of the late Donald S. Welty and Serepta Deborah Place Welty, was born on June 23, 1905 at Orange, Calif. and departed this life in the Northshore Living Center at Slidell, La. on Feb. 19, 2002, at the age of 96. Mrs. Pounders was a member of the Bernie United Methodist Church, was an Elementary School Teacher and member of Retired Teachers Association of Missouri and P.E.O. She was united in marriage to William Price Pounders on May 8, 1927 at Hayti, Mo. Mr. Pounders preceded her in death on March 3, 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Pounders Baker of Slidell, La.; four grandchildren, Bill Baker of Ramon, Calif., Carl Baker of Lansing, Mich., Brian Baker of Boca Raton, Fla. and Susie Baker Pitaky of Ann Arbor, Mich.; also by 11 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating. Interment will follow in the Park Cemetery at Malden with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers make donations to Bernie United Methodist Church. PAID
