Jerry Louis Sorrentino of Glen Allen, the son of the late Agostino and Crecenzia Catale Sorrentino, was born Jan. 9, 1919 in Chicago, Ill. and died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2002 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, at the age of 83. Mr. Sorrentino was a World War II United States Army Veteran, retired from the Army and the United States Postal Department. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, Ariz. He was united in marriage to Margaret Hughes Cornwell on Dec. 10, 1945 at Calcutta, India. She preceded him in death on Feb. 27, 2001. Survivors include one son, Barry Hughes of Glen Allen; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, three brothers, and four sisters. Visitation will be held at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Morgan Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9 with Father Frederick Lutz officiating. Interment will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of arrangements.
