Robert Leroy "Roy" Hale of Dexter and formerly of East Prairie, the son of the late Duncan and Mary Myrtle Bailey Hale, was born Dec. 11, 1934 in Woodruff County, Ark. and died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter at the age of 67. Roy had lived in Dexter for the past 25 years, where he was a member of the Eagles Club and was a retired boilermaker. On Aug. 20, 1956 was united in marriage to Phyllis Stenger Hale, she survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Brenda Hale, Karen Horst of Crown Point, Ind. and Kathy Redar of Winfield, Ill.; by one step-son, Jeff Fyke of Dexter; by five brothers, Tom and Donnie Hale of East Prairie, Harold Hale of Brownwood, Marion Hale of Wappapello and Frankie Hale of Jackson; by two sisters, Margaret Bailey of Fairdealing and Martha Richmond of Longview, Texas; by seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Hale. Visitation was held on Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. in the Shelby Funeral Chapel with Brother Larry Smith officiating. Interment followed at the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery with Shelby Funeral Home of East Prairie in charge of arrangements.
