Thomas G. Taylor, son of the late W.R. Taylor and Mary Caroline McMullin Taylor, was born on Oct. 17, 1912 at Essex and died in the Cypress Point Health Care in Dexter on Jan. 22, 2002, at the age of 89. Mr. Taylor was a member of the United Methodist Church in Essex, was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Philippines and a retired farmer. He was united in marriage to Vivian Lucille Ross on Feb. 12, 1948 at Dexter. Mrs. Taylor preceded him in death on June 3, 1988. Survivors include two sons, Arlan Taylor of Dexter and Scott Taylor of Bloomfield; by one brother, Charles Taylor of Essex; and five grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Max Taylor, Howard Taylor and James Taylor; and four sisters, Maurine Taylor, Mary Vinson, Grace Stuart and Lollie Chrisman. Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25 in the Rainey-Mathis Chapel with Rev. Ernie Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
