Beulah Smith

Beulah Gladys Smith of Doniphan, was born Jan. 16, 1915 in the Pratt Community in Ripley County and died Jan. 16, 2002 at the Current River Nursing Center in Doniphan at the age of 87. Mrs. Smith formerly resided in Poplar Bluff and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling. On Aug. 12, 1933 she was united in marriage to James Ezra Ray and he preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 1972. In 1978, she married Earl Smith and he also preceded her in death in 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Pennington of Doniphan and Deborah Hubbard of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one half-brother, Dewey Ward of Palm Springs, Calif.; and one sister, Annie Smiley of Weatherford, Texas. Visitation will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 at Cotrell Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Cotrell Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Schremp officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Cotrell Funeral Service of Poplar Bluff in charge of arrangements.
