Connie Ray Belt

Connie Ray Belt, the son of Winona Belt and the late Russell Belt, was born in Campbell on Dec. 4, 1943 and died at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on Jan. 13, 2002 , at the age of 58. Mr. Belt had lived in St. Louis for many years and moved to Dexter four years ago. He was a member of the American Legion and had served in the United States Air Force. On Nov. 17, 2001, he was united in marriage to Barbara Scott in Dexter, she survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Randy Belt of St. Louis; by one daughter, Jody Belt of Mexico, Mo.; by nine grandchildren; by three step-sons, Jimmy Payne of Dexter, Kenneth Payne of Blytheville, Ark. and Larry Payne of Fulton; and by one step-daughter, Rhonda White of Sikeston. Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 14 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were conducted, today, Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel with Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter officiating. Interment followed in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
