Doris Mae Abernathy Adams of Malden, the daughter of Sarah Wilson Carl and the late Charley Carl of Harviell, was born June 17,1938 at Poplar Bluff and died at the Crowley Ridge Nursing Center in Dexter on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at the age of 63. Mrs. Adams was affiliated with the Voice of Zion Church in Malden. Besides her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Vera Abernathy and Brenda Goodman, both of Malden; by two sons, John Thomas Abernathy and Clifton Dale Abernathy, both of Malden; by three sisters, Lois Cross of Dexter, Virginia Gray and Vivian Crosby, both of Poplar Bluff; by two half-brothers, Billy Thurston of Poplar Bluff and Robert Thurston of Harviell; by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Carl, Vernon Edward Carl and Marvin Carl. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden beginning at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Bradshaw Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Karen Oldham officiating. Interment will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton with Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden in charge of arrangements.
