Vergil C. Maze

Vergil C. Maze of Kalamazoo, Mich., died Thursday afternoon, January 10, 2002. Vergil was born Oct. 15, 1921, in Dexter, a son of Robert D. and Minnie (McGowan) Maze, Sr. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a Kalamazoo resident for 60 years and was employed with Clifton Engineering for 11 years, retiring in 1981. Years ago he worked at K.V.P. He also attended Northeastern Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ollie O. (Hume) Maze on April 8, 2001; a son, Ronald Gene Maze; and six brothers and sisters. He is survived by four children, Gerald K. (Karen) Maze of Oshtemo, Richard A. (Ann) Maze of Kalamazoo, and Linda K. (Don) Elder and Pamela J. (Frank) Crane, all of Galesburg; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-granchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Robert D. Maze, Jr., of Dexter; two sisters, Esther Horrocks of Lawton, Mich., and Hilda Ellsworth of St. Peters; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan.15, 2002 from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo, Mich. 49007, with Pastor Greg Bishop officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Northeastern Baptist Church Building Fund.
