Gerald Allen DeGeare of Dudley was born Dec. 12, 1938 in Granite City, Ill. and died Dec. 29, 2001 at the Beverly Health & Rehabilitation Center in Dexter at the age of 63. He was a member of the Hobbs Chapel Methodist Church in Dudley, a Nascar racing fan and loved fishing. Mr. DeGeare was united in marriage to Glenda Louise DeGeare on Jan. 6, 1977. She preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 1999. He was previously married to Janet Townsend. Survivors include four sons, David DeGeare of Olathe, Kan., Greg DeGeare of Dexter, John Wilds of Grandin, Mo., and Robert Wilds of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Kelly Woods of Olathe, Kan.; one brother, George DeGeare of Dudley; and four grandchildren. Visitation was held at the White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk on Monday, Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Kim Proffer officiating. Interment followed in the Shain Memorial Cemetery with White-Sanders Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
