Doris Cain

Doris Cain, daughter of the late Gardner Alexander and Mary Alice Starks Ray, was born in Frisco on Feb. 9, 1911 and died at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston on Dec. 26, 2001, at the age of 90. Mrs. Cain had resided in the Essex area most of her life. She had been a teacher at the Hale School before her marriage and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter. On Jan. 9, 1935 she was married to Glendon G. Cain in Dexter. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1974. Surviving are one son, Don Cain of Matthews; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Marshall of Poplar Bluff and Olive Mitchell of Rogers, Ark. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Robert Ray Cain in 1944; four brothers and four sisters. Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 28 after 12 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel with Rev. Fred Leist of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
