Lorene D. Landers, daughter of the late John Delbert George and Lola Alexander George, was born on Aug. 23, 1927 at Hope, Ark. and died at her residence in Dexter on Dec. 22, 2001, at the age of 74. Mrs. Landers was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter, a former florist in Eureka, Calif. and a resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Elvin E. Landers on Dec. 17, 1965 at Arcata, Calif. Mr. Landers survives of the home in Dexter. Besides her husband, she is survived by one step-daughter, Delores Jean Reeder of McKinleyville, Calif.; by three brothers, D.L. George of Olive Branch, Miss., Geraldean George of Hot Springs, Ark. and Hershel Ray George of Nesbit, Miss.; by one sister, Patsy Blakely of Benton, Ark.; by three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one step-son, Elvin Eugene Landers, Jr. and one sister in infancy. Visitation was held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5:30 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 24 in the Rainey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Keith Garland officiating. Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
