Marilyn S. Clayton Webster, 64, of Rockford, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a brave battle with cancer. Born Oct. 12, 1937 in Dudley, she was the daughter of Samuel and Margaret Green Nash. She lived 37 years in Rockford after moving there from Dudley. She married Verlin D. "Pug" Clayton on Dec. 1, 1955 in Hernando, Miss. He died in 1978. She was employed at Cam-Car Textron for 22 years, retiring as an inspector in 1999. She was of the Baptist faith, an avid golfer and traveler. Survivors include a son, Anthony (Kelly) Clayton of Roscoe, Ill.; daughters, Tonya (John) Haas, Regina (Roger) Boyd, Judith (Rick) Harper and Karen (Steven) Harris, all of Rockford; grandchildren, Ginger, Shawn, Keith and Chris, Whitney, Shane, Hillary, Brandon, Corey and Chayse; great-grandchildren, Skylure, Maddison and Christian; sister, Patsy (Charles) Turner of Davis Junctions, Ill.; many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend, Jim Myers. She was pre-deceased by her parents. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in the Ulrey Funeral Home. Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, in Ulrey Funeral Home Chapel of the Chimes, 7000 W. State St., with Pastor Arnold Guy of 20th Street Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Big Mound Cemetery, Holcomb. Memorials may be made in care of the family. Paid
