Roy Ashley Poe, son of the late Terry and Cora Stacey Poe, was born at Bloomfield on Aug. 22, 1911 and died at Central Gardens in Dexter on Dec. 9, 2001, at the age of 90. Mr. Poe had spent his entire life in Bloomfield and retired from Elder Manufacturing Co. in Bloomfield in 1975. He was a 50 year member and Past Master of Bloomfield Lodge #153 A.F. & A.M. and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, where he remained very active until recent ill health prohibited him. On Dec. 24, 1932 he was united in marriage to Agnes Hankins and she preceded him in death on April 30, 1992. In Jan. of 1993, he married Hollie Yeakey and she preceded him in death in March 2000. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Liszewski on April 10, 1992 and one son, Rev. James R. Poe on Nov. 18, 2001. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Bell of Dexter and Brenda Horner of Imperial, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation was held at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 5 - 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9. Masonic Rites were given at 7 p.m. by the Bloomfield Lodge #153 A.F. & A.M. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Dunavin officiating. Internment followed in the West Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of all arrangements.
