Clifford Gowen

Clifford T. Gowen of Advance, the son of the late James and Minnie Foster Gowen, was born Jan. 28, 1909 at Eminence and died Dec. 2, 2001 at the Advance Nursing Center, at the age of 92. Clifford was a carpenter and farmer. He was a Veteran of W.W.II serving in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Mary Burke on Nov. 30, 1945 at Piggott, Ark., she survives of the home. He is survived by four sons, Daniel Gowen of Zalma, Donald Gowen of Leopold, Bob Gowen of Marble Hill and Jerry Gowen of Arab; by two daughters, Patricia Cross of Lancaster, Pa. and Janet Sechrest of Marble Hill; by one brother, Ray Gowen of Dexter; by two sisters, Dorothy Parker of Dexter and Mary Eaves of San Bernardino, Calif.; by 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Visitation will be held at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance on Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 4:30 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. in the Morgan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rudy Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in the Morgan Memorial Park in Advance with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of all arrangements.
