Amy Nell Becking, daughter of the late James Robert Kifer and Ora Mae Vineyard Kifer, was born at Bernie on July 2, 1925 and died in the St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau on Nov. 26, 2001, at the age of 76. She was united in marriage to Glendale Lee Becking at Piggott, Ark. on June 19, 1948. To this union two children were born. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Homer Kifer, Freeman Kifer, Dawsey Kifer and Earl Kifer; by four sisters, Vera Kifer, Mabel Kifer, Pansey Walker and Pearl Ott. Mrs. Becking was a homemaker. She also loved working with her flowers at her home, both inside and out. She is survived by her husband, Glendale Lee Becking of the home in Bernie; by two daughters, Lana Becking of Bernie and Cindy Stewart of Marion, Ill.; by two grandchildren; by one great-grand-daughter; and by three sisters, Lucille Bates of Dexter, Goldie Hunt of Flint, Mich. and Helen "Toots" Thurston of Kennett. Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 5:30 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey Chapel at Bernie on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Martin Goode of Malden officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of arrangements.
