Golda Woods

Golda Mae Woods, the daughter of the late Ed and Dorothy Ray Etheridge, was born in Hendrickson on March 31, 1928 and died at the Three Rivers Healthcare South Campus in Poplar Bluff on Nov. 24, 2001, at the age of 73. Mrs. Woods was a life-long resident of Southeast Missouri, having lived in Silva several years before moving to Dexter in 1993. She was a member of the Elk General Baptist Church in Broseley. On Dec. 22, 1944 she was united in marriage to Homer Woods in Piggott, Ark, he survives of the home. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, William "Bill" Woods of Dexter; by one daughter, Joann Harmon of Kennett; by four grandchildren; by four great-grandchildren; and by three sisters, Claudine Cauthen of Easley, S.C., Carmon Pennington of Poplar Bluff and Carolyn Bruce of Qulin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Woods, and two brothers, Herman and Ronnie Etheridge. Visitation was held on Monday, Nov. 26 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 10:30 a.m. in the Watkins & Sons Chapel with Rev. Dan Ross of Silva officiating. Interment followed in the Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
