J.R. McLard

J.R. McLard, the son of the late Frankilin and Rubie Tankersley McLard, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on March 26, 1934 and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter on Nov. 20, 2001, at the age of 67. Mr. McLard had lived in Dexter most of his life. He was the owner/operator of J. R. McLard Truck and Equipment Sales in Dexter. He served in the United States Army and attended the Assembly of God Church in Dexter. On Oct. 25, 1953 he was united in marriage to Novella Cates in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Starlin McLard of Dexter; by three brothers, Mitchell McLard of Bennington, Neb., Michael McLard of Chaffee and Ed McLard of Dexter; by four sisters, Elizabeth Burns and Pat Miller, both of Dexter, Frances McLard of Dudley and Ruth Worley of Cape Girardeau; and by one granddaughter, Moriah McLard of Dexter. Several nephews, nieces and many friends also survive. Visitation will be held at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 23, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. George Hill of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery, near Bloomfield, with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements. PAID
