Charles D. Harlan, the son of the late Thomas and Viola Kamin Harlan, was born in Gray Ridge on Dec. 17, 1939 and died at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Nov. 16, 2001, at the age of 61 years. Mr. Harlan was a resident of Gray Ridge most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He had served in the United States Air Force. Surviving are one son, Randy Throgmorton of Dexter; one daughter, Beth Cook of Cape Girardeau; one brother, James Harlan of Gray Ridge; and two sisters, Gloria Ritch of Gray Ridge and Beverly Hargrove of Napa, Calif. Visitation was held at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19. Graveside funeral services followed at 10:30 a.m. at the Essex Cemetery in Essex with Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating. Interment then followed in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements. Full military honors were conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard of Poplar Bluff.
