Marion Mitchell

Marion Mitchell, son of the late Willie Mitchell and Anna Ledbetter Mitchell, was born on Aug. 31, 1924 at Essex and died in the Hunter Acres Care Center in Sikeston on Nov. 7, 2001, at the age of 77. Mr. Mitchell attended the Hopewell General Baptist Church at Frisco, was a retired line worker for General Motors in Flint, Mich., a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II, and a resident of rural Dexter. He was first united in marriage to Virginia Lawrence on Aug. 8, 1946 at Dexter, she preceded him in death on March 22, 1996. He then married Sue Sides Joseph on Jan. 16, 1999 at the Hopewell General Baptist Church at Frisco, she survives of the home.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mike Mitchell of Puyallup, Wash. and Reed Mitchell and wife, Joyce of Shoreline, Wash.; by one step-son, Terry Joseph of Wappapello; by one stepdaughter, Karen McHand of Olive Branch, Miss.; by seven grandchildren, Heather and Stan Warren, Stephanie Mitchell, Jimi Mitchell, Michelle and Brock Milliern, Nichole Mitchell, Rachael Mitchell and Spencer Mitchell; by ten step-grandchildren; by three step-great grandchildren and several cousins. Besides his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Neil Mitchell and one step-daughter, Johnette Hurley.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001 in the Rainey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Martin Goode officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements. At the request of the family, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association. PAID
