Charles Goss

Charles "Herman" Goss of Cahokia, Ill., was born Sept. 9, 1931 in Arbyrd and died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at his residence. A former Dexter resident, he was the retired owner/operator of Goss Tree Service in Cahokia and was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Cahokia. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Goss; his parents, Charlie and Lessle (nee Black) Goss; and a brother, Curtis Goss.

Mr. Goss is survived by his wife, Reva Berneice (nee Reaves) Goss; four daughters, Brenda Steiger of Beleville, Ill., Diana Goss of Seattle, Wash., Shirley "Penny" J. Roach of Walmeyer, Ill., and Laura Goss of Belleville, Ill.; a son, Glenn Goss of Belleville, Ill.; two brothers, David (Thelma) Goss of Sun Valley, Calif.; and Joe (Jocelyn) Goss of Riverside, Calif.; four sisters, Christine Morrow of Fontana, Calif., Jean (Morris) Wolfs of Cypress, Calif., Shirley Kittrell of Whittier, Calif., and Bonnie (Butch) Shaffer of Visalia, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Visitation was held from 2-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at the Braun Colonial Funeral Home in Cahokia, Ill. Additional visitation will be held from noon until 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Watkins and Sons Chapel. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery, Dexter.
