Effie Parrott Reese, the daughter of William Byron and Myrtle Whitledge Parrott, was born in Stoddard County July 6, 1919, and died Oct. 28, 2001, in Tyler, Texas at the age of 82. Mrs. Reese was a caterer for the First Presbyterian Church in Tyler and was a member of First Baptist Church, was employed by General Electric and was retired from East Texas Medical Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Portia Ellis Dale; and her great-grandson, Richard Bond Darnell. She is survived by two sons, Jim Reese of Gladewater and Glenn Reese of Tyler; one daughter, Sue Love, of Tyler; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:30 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Chapel with Dr. Michael D. Dent officiating. Interment will be held in the Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery, with Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors of Tyler, Texas in charge of all arrangements.
