R. Wayne Lorch, of Bartlett, Ill., son of Claudine Tippett Lorch of Advance and the late Leonard Lorch, was born March 2, 1943 at Cape Girardeau and died Oct. 11, 2001 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Ill., at the age of 58. Wayne was a retired management supervisor and had worked for U.S. Steele Corp. in Chicago, Ill. for 18 years. He was a 1961 graduate of Advance High School, where he was an All State Basketball player and also graduated from the University of Missouri in 1966 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War, and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Wayne, Ill. Wayne loved hunting, fishing and basketball. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Gallo on Aug. 23, 1975 at Chicago, Ill., she survives of the home. Besides his mother and wife, he is survived by one son, Mark Wayne Lorch of Bartlett, Ill.; by one daughter, Cara Marie Lorch of Chicago; by two brothers, Dennis Lorch and David Lorch, both of Advance. Mr. Lorch was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Lorch; and by one brother, Michael Lorch. Visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 4-8 p.m. at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Funeral services were conducted at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. with Father Frederick Lutz officiating. Interment followed at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Advance with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of all arrangements.
