Ralph (Jimmy) Edward Young of Campbell, son of the late Alonzo Virgil Young and Leona Brandon Young, was born Nov. 16, 1916 in Carrier Mills, Ill. and died on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001 at the Veterans Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. at the age of 84. He was a retired house painter and carpenter, a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the Campbell Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Young was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard Young, Earl V. Young and Clyde Young; and two sisters, Irene Ferrell and an infant sister. Visitation will be held at Landess Funeral Home in Campbell on Friday, Oct. 12 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Landess Funeral Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Epps officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell with Landess Funeral Home of Campbell in charge of all arrangements.
