Harry Glenn Williamson, Sr., the son of the late Harry and Lee Crutcher Williamson, was born in Essex on May 26, 1919, and died at his home in Essex on Sept. 24, 2001, at the age of 82. Mr. Williamson had lived in Essex all his life. He was a retired road and dam construction worker, a member of the Essex Methodist Church and the Full Gospel Men's Fellowship, a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Army Corp and had been a flight instructor. On Feb. 25, 1941 he was united in marriage to China Wanda Lee Crews in Oak Grove, La. She survives of the home in Essex. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Harry Glenn, Jr. and Julia Williamson of Bloomfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Dan Hudgens of Dexter; three grandchildren, Jason Williamson and wife, Tammy, of Columbia, Phillip Williamson of Bloomfield, and Danielle Hudgens of Dexter; two brothers, Bill and Estell Williamson, both of Essex; two sisters, Margy Dopps of Mansfield, Ohio and Pat Quattlebaum of Arlington, Texas. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 26, after 12:30 p.m. at the Essex Cemetery. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter and Rev. Ernie Rogers of Poplar Bluff officiating. Interment will be in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements. Memorials may be made to Kennett Hospice or the Essex United Methodist Church. PAID
