Paul Melvin Wethington, son of the late Hudson Green Wethington and Bertha Condict Wethington of Gray Ridge, was born Nov. 14, 1927 near Essex and died on Sept. 4, 2001 in San Diego, Calif., at the age of 73. He served in the United States Navy as an enlisted man for nine years, as an officer for 15 years and retired on June 30, 1971. In 1954 he was united in marriage to Fredda June Case of Morehouse, who survives of the home. Besides his parents, Mr. Wethington was preceded in death by three brothers, Hudson Max Wethington of Essex, Glenn Clayton Wethington of Gray Ridge and Russell Ervin Wethington of Arlington, Texas; by two sisters, Leola Maxine Wethington of Essex, a twin sister, Pauline Mae Wethington Clanton of Shelbyville, Tenn. and one nephew, Glenn Clayton Wethington, Jr. of Poplar Bluff. He is survived by one son, Paul Steven and Nancy Wethington and daughters, Natalie Marie Schwartz, Stephanie Renee and Madison Necole of West Chester, Ohio; five brothers, Fred and Shirley Wethington, Donald and Gloria Wethington, both of Bloomfield, Elzie and Wanda Wethington of Dexter, M.B. and Katherine Wethington of Sikeston, David and Gail Wethington of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Linda and Sam Curtis of Hillsboro, Ill.; nine nephews and 11 nieces. A Military Memorial Service at the Stars and Stripes Cemetery in Bloomfield is being planned for a later date. PAID
