Marvin Speer

Marvin Speer of Advance was born Nov. 19, 1943, at Columbia, Ill., the son of the late Virgle and Geneva Hogue Speer and died on Sept. 2, 2001, at his home at the age of 57. Mr. Speer was a construction superintendent for Penzel Construction Co. in Jackson and served in the United States Army 182nd Airborne. He was united in marriage to Emma Wood on Oct. 25, 1996, at Marble Hill. She survives of the home in Advance. Other survivors include one son, Todd Speer of Highridge ; one daughter, Stacy Speer of Malden; three sisters, Phyllis Salverson of Heath, Texas, Shirly Eggiman of Advance and Tammi Jackson of Dudley; and four grandchildren. Visitation was held in the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance on Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 4:30 - 8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. in the Morgan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Scott Payne officiating. Interment followed in the Morgan Memorial Park in Advance with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of arrangements.
