Johnny V. Slusher, the son of the late Ira Frank Slusher and Villar Lenora Curtis Slusher, was born in Lamar, Ark., on Aug. 27, 1927, and died on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at the Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, at the age of 74. He was united in marriage to Glenda Porter Slusher on Feb. 3, 1990, in Piggott, Ark. She survives of the home in Poplar Bluff. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nadine Brewer. Mr. Slusher was a retired farmer and worked part time for LeGrand Feed and Fertilizer in Poplar Bluff. He loved fishing and camping. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Cherlyn Waddell of Poplar Bluff; one son, Steve Slusher of Dudley; three stepsons, Keith Maloy of Poplar Bluff, Kevin Nelson of Berryville, Ark., and Chris Dicken of Poplar Bluff; two stepdaughters, Penny Badley of Blue Eye and Karen Hudson of Success, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Boyd Slusher of Marston and Glen Slusher of Benton; three sisters, Geneva Warren of O'Fallon, Reba Vincent of Malden and Janice Temples of Alabama. Visitation will be held at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden on Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 1-3 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the Landess Funeral Chapel at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ivan Mekan officiating. Interment will be in the Bethany Cemetery in Campbell with Landess Funeral Home of Malden in charge of arrangements.
