Charles Grundy Turlington, son of the late Charles Turlington and Emma May Hammond Turlington, was born on April 28, 1913, at Dexter and died in the Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Monday, June 9, 2003, at the age of 90. Mr. Turlington was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a retired painter, a former maintenance employee for the Dexter Post Office, a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II, a member of the Kenady-Hanks American Legion Post #59, the NARFE Postal Association, a member of the Southeast Missouri Baseball Hall of Fame and a resident of Dexter. He was united in marriage to Dorris May Eaton on Sept. 5, 1936, at Bloomfield. Mrs. Turlington survives of the home in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Terry Turlington of Kennett; and two grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Turlington; and one sister, Zoe Campbell. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
