Orville Miller

Orville Marion Miller, Sr., the son of the late Louis Jackson and Parthenia Delana Miller, was born in Vienna, Ill. on October 24, 1917, and died May 28, 2003, at the Arkansas Health Center in Benton, Ark., at the age of 85. Mr. Miller had lived in the Essex and Gray Ridge area before moving near Hartville. In 1981 he moved to Arkansas where he lived until his death. Mr. Miller is a 20 year veteran of the Army. He served in World War II and the Korean War. On June 3, 1949, he was married to Alice Rozelle Stewart, and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2001. He is survived by one son, Charles J. Miller of Ventura, Calif.; two daughters, Lana A. Francis of Herculaneum, and Kathleen Wamble of Essex; five grandchildren; and one brother, Louis Miller of Idaho. He was preceded in death by one son, Orville M. Miller, Jr. on October 26, 1993. Visitation was from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m on Thursday, June 5, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating. Interment followed in the Essex Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard of Poplar Bluff. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter was in charge of all arrangements.
