Norma Jean Jarrell, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Nancy Kirkpatrick Rhodes, was born in Marble Hill on April 4, 1947, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at the age of 56. Mrs. Jarrell had lived in Dexter since 1970. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter. On Sept. 17, 1966, she was married to James W. Jarrell in Bell City. Mrs. Jarrell is survived by her husband, James W. Jarrell of Dexter; two sons, Melvin Jarrell of Dexter and Jimmy Jarrell of Bloomfield; six grandchildren; three brothers, Elzie Rhodes, Delzie Rhodes and Kenneth Rhodes, all of Marble Hill; one sister, Thelma Dippold of Cape Girardeau. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Lloyd, George, Carl and Raymond Rhodes. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Thursday, May 29, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Fred Leist of Dexter and Bro. Jon Pierce of Bloomfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
