Vanna Lynn Bernard, a resident of Columbia and the daughter of Vannis and Helen Teeters Gray, was born on Jan. 14, 1958, in Fulton and died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at South Hampton Place in Columbia. She graduated from Sweet Springs High School and Central Missouri State University. On Aug. 6, 1967, she married Alan D. Bernard in Sweet Springs. In the early 90's, she owned her own variety store business in Sweet Springs. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sweet Springs. Survivors include her father, Vannis Gray of Columbia; and a daughter, Jocelyn Holy Bernard of Sweet Springs. She was preceded in death by her mother; her paternal grandparents, James and Mary Gray; and her maternal grandparents, Zelpha Garrett and Fred Teeters. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at First General Baptist in Dexter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at First General Baptist Church in Dexter with Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in Dexter City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Columbia, 2116 Nelwood Drive, Columbia, Mo. 65202.
