Don Shrum

Don Shrum, son of the late William E. and Ruth L. Buchanan Shrum, was born in Puxico on June 16, 1936, and died at the Lakewood Regional Medical Center in Lakewood, Calif. on Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at the age of 67. Mr. Shrum had lived in Puxico until moving to California in 1956. He worked as a surveyor for 37 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On November 6, 1960, he was married to Olga Kuryatschi in Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife Olga Shrum of Long Beach, Calif.; two sons, Dale Shrum of Cathedral City, Calif. and Eric Shrum of Lakewood, Calif.; two daughters, Mary Bauer of Irvine, Calif. and Sally Freyre of Canyon Lake, Calif.; one brother, Oris Vern Shrum of Acorn Ridge; and nine grandchildren. Mr. Shrum was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Shrum. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 26, 2003, at 5 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 27, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with the Elder Jerry Park of Puxico officiating. Interment will follow in the Elliott Cemetery near Puxico.
