Austin W. Cooper, formerly of Dexter, died at his home in Festus on Thursday, July 17, 2004 at the age of 65. Mr. Cooper was retired after working as a teacher for the Jefferson R-7 School District. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church of Festus, Elks Lodge #1721 and Mississippi River Eagles #4341. Survivors include: his wife, Janet Cooper of Festus; his mother, Nancy Cooper of Dexter; one daughter, Debra Gale Murphy of Rogers, Ark.; two sons, Michael Wayne Cooper of Festus and Jeff Roper of Crystal City; and seven grandchildren. Visitation was held at the Wesley Memorial Church in Festus. The burial was held at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City.
