Larry Wayne Simmons

Larry Wayne Simmons, son of Maxine Goode Simmons Simpson and the late William Theodore Simmons, was born in Parma on June 11, 1943, and died Thursday, July 17, 2003, in his home near Parma at the age of 60. Mr. Simmons had lived in the Parma area all his life. He was a farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Parma. He had served in the Bernie Army National Guard. On June 4, 1993, Mr. Simmons was married to JoAnn Ballard in Piggot, Ark. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Simmons of Parma; his mother and step-father, Maxine and Gilbert Simpson of Parma; three sons, Westley Simmons of Dexter, and Jonathan and Jared Simmons of Bernie; two step-sons, Keith Heigle of Mayersville, Miss., and Brad Heigle of Anguilla, Miss.; two step-daughters, Konny Heigle of Mayersville, Miss., and Misty Joiner of Cary, Miss.; two brothers, Gary Simmons of Salisaw, Okla., and Doile Simmons of Coweta, Okla.; two sisters, Shirley Harris of Dexter, and Mary Lou Payne of Parma; three grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. Visitation was held Sunday, July 20, 2003, from 1 p.m. until service time at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 20, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma with Rev. John Girdley of Parma officiating. Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery.
