John Clifford Medlin, son of the late Lester Levi Medlin and Gracie Allen Medlin, was born on November 30, 1926, in Bernie, and died at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion, Ill. on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the age of 76. Mr. Medlin was a carpenter and worked in construction all over the Southeast Missouri area. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II, and a resident of Dexter. Survivors include one daughter, Loretta Medlin of Dexter; seven sisters, Thelma Oliver and Mildred Carlton of Dexter, Louise Dye of Kennett, Bonnie Brigman of Ouray, Colo., Melba Ward of Bernie, Eva Embrey of Boise, Idaho, and Wilma Walker of Madisonville, Ky.; and two grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clecy Medlin, Welton Medlin, and Donald Medlin. Graveside Military services will be conducted at 3 pm, Wednesday, June 25, 2003, with Rev. Ron Ledbetter officiating at the Bernie Cemetery.
