Jessie Burton Chalk

Jessie Burton Chalk, son of the late Joe and Hattie White Chalk was born in Paragould, Ark. on September 5, 1917 and died at the Portageville Nursing Center in Portageville on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at the age of 85. Mr. Chalk was a resident of Parma since 1956. He had worked as a tractor mechanic for Ramsey's International in Parma. On July 11, 1937, he was married to Hester Wells in Gideon. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2003. Mr. Chalk is survived by one son, Johnny Lee Chalk of Portageville; and one grandson. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Chalk. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m., today, Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Parma. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at 1 p.m. in the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Parma with the Rev. Keith Garland of Dexter officiating. Interment will be in the Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.
