Syble Marie Cravens

Syble Marie Cravens, daughter of the late Albert "AB" Hill and Effie Rosetta Shipman Hill, was born on March 16, 1913, in Ash Hill and died at her residence in Dexter on Thursday, June 12, 2003, at the age of 90. Mrs. Cravens was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a home-maker, and resident of Dexter. She was united in marriage to Bernard Cravens on December 24, 1927, in Bloomfield. Mr. Cravens preceded her in death on December 7, 1991. Survivors include one son, Chester Gary Cravens of Dexter; three daughters, Jeanette A. Satterfield of Dexter, Shirley Ann Jones of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Carolyn Sue Boone of Marietta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clifford Hill, Verlin Hill, and Henry Hill; four sisters, Myrtle Allison, Cola Singleton, Sylvia Hart, and Dottie Wolpers. Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2003. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 15, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery near Dexter.
