Barbara Ann Hampton

Barbara Ann Hampton, the daughter of the late W. Leslie and Minnie Thurma Burkeen Ethridge, was born in Poplar Bluff on Jan. 11, 1934, and died at the Three Rivers Healthcare Center North Campus in Poplar Bluff on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003, at the age of 69.

Mrs. Hampton was a homemaker and had lived in the Poplar Bluff and Gatewood communities for many years. She moved to Dexter this past November and was a member of the Pentecost Church.

On March 18, 1950, she was married to Dane Eugene Hampton in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1993.

Surviving are three sons, Larry Hampton of St. Louis, Blane and Vernon Hampton, both of Dexter; one daughter, Sondra Pickard of Sparta, Ill.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Daniel, Ray, and Joe Ethridge, all of Poplar Bluff; and one sister, Bonnie Mansker of Doniphan.

She was preceded in death by one son, Monte Hampton on Nov. 2, 1993; and two brothers, Alfred and Allen Paul Ethridge.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Robert Bentley of Dexter officiating.

Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
