Maudie Walker Grubbs, the daughter of the late Frank and Lora Bean Bell, was born in Dexter on Jan. 17, 1911, and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at the age of 92.

Mrs. Grubbs had lived in Gray Ridge, spent many years in Detroit and Rochester, Mich., and had moved to Dexter in 1987. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Utica, Mich.

She was married to James R. Walker, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 27, 1969. On March 21, 1991, she was married to Oakley R. Grubbs, and he preceded her in death on March 14, 1999.

Mrs. Grubbs is survived by one sister, Audie Burnett McGhee of Dexter.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnnie, Walter and Earl Bell; and one sister, Mary Mabee.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, in the Dexter Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Ward of Essex officiating.

Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Services of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
