Charlie U. Hollis

Charlie U. Hollis, son of the late Irbin Hollis and Roxie Isabella Wilbanks Hollis, was born Aug. 27, 1919, at Corinth, Miss., and died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett at the age of 84.

On Jan. 13, 1940, he was married to Roberta Pauline Parson, and she preceded him in death on April 15, 1993.

Survivors include five sons, William "W.D." Hollis, of Auburn, Kan., J.T. Hollis and Daryl Hollis, both of Malden, Larry Hollis of Statham, Ga., and Charlie Hollis of Bernie; eight daughters, Pauline Rogers of Cincinnati, Ohio, Joy Dean McCoy of Clarkton, Lela Wyatt of St. Mary, Wanda McDaniel of Kennett, Donna Cravens of Auburn, Ga., Debbie Pollard and Betty Hollis, both of Malden, and Carol Hollis of Risco; one sister, Vela Kirk of Pocahontas, Tenn.; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Leon Hollis, LeRoy Hollis, and Hughey Hollis.

Visitation was held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden and officiated by Rev. Larry Keith Landers.

Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
