Novella Lois Hinton

Novella Lois Hinton of Great Bend, Kan., was born Nov. 27, 1916, at Ardeola, the daughter of Edwin and Stella Hopkins Stewart. She died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend, Kan., at the age of 86.

On July 15, 1934, she was married to Elvis D. Hinton at Bernie, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1999.

She was a homemaker, a resident of Great Bend since August of 1995, coming from St. Louis. She was a member of First Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship and Joy Group in Great Bend.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Travis B. Clary, and one sister, Virginia Griffin.

Survivors include one daughter, Lois Ann Johnson, and son-in-law, Rev. William "Bill" F. Johnson; one brother, Howard Clary of Cape Girardeau; one grandchild, Eric William Johnson and wife Audrey of Great Bend; and two great-grandchildren, Derek and Courtney.

Visitation was held from 3-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, and Friday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend, Kan., and 2-4 p.m. at First Christian Church in Great Bend.

The funeral service was conducted at 4 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Great Bend, Kan.

Visitation will also be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Another funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Interment will follow at Dexter Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Great Bend First Christian Church Building Fund in Great Bend, Kan.
