William "Bill" Tumbleson, the son of Beulah Jones and the late Victor Tumbleson, was born in Clarksville, Ala., on Dec. 12, 1933, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on July 27, 2001, at the age of 67.
Mr. Tumbleson was a retired painter and wallpaper hanger. He was a former resident of Arkansas and Afton before moving to Essex in 1976. He served in the U.S. Marines and was a member of the Taylor General Baptist Church near Essex.
On July 24, 1970, he was married to Eileen Jackson in Clayton.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen Tumbleson of Essex; one son, James Tumbleson of St. Louis; his mother, Beulah Tumbleson of Sikeston; two brothers, Wayne Tumbleson of Sikeston and Howard Ray Tumbleson of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Sharon Null of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Vollmer; and one brother, Burl A. Tumbleson.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with services conducted by Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating and full military honors provided by the Marine Corps League Honor Guard of Cape Girardeau on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at 11 a.m. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
