Willa M. Chasteen

Willa Mae Chasteen, daughter of the late Fred and Canna Myers Dixon, was born at Dexter on Dec. 1, 1919, and died at Bloomfield on Oct. 12, 2003, at the age of 83.

Mrs. Chasteen spent most of her life in the West Pleasant Valley Community. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, the Dexter Hospital Auxiliary and the Golden Age Quilting Clubs. Quilting was a big part of her life in her later years.

On Jan. 18, 1946, she was married to Russell Chasteen, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1987. Two brothers, Johnny and Tommy and one sister Delma also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, William Chasteen of Bloomfield, Gary Chasteen of Dexter, and Terry Chasteen of North Olmstead, Ohio; one brother, Clyde Dixon of Dexter; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Terryl Almond officiating.

Interment will follow in the West Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Bloomfield.
