Helen Louise Horton, daughter of the late Walter William White and Mary Mayse White, was born Oct. 9, 1926, at Clay Center, Kan., and died in the home of her daughter at Poplar Bluff on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at the age of 77.
Mrs. Horton was of the Methodist faith, a former Ombudsman at Vintage Villa nursing Center and Central Gardens Residential Care in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter.
She was united in marriage to John Irvin Horton on March 31, 1944, at Edinburg, Texas. Mr. Horton preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1987.
Survivors include three sons, Virgil L. Horton of Seattle, Wash., Warren A. Horton of Winterville, N.C., and Dale Horton of Columbia; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Garner of Poplar Bluff; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, John "Buddy" Horton.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Pastor Johnny Walters officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
