Sylvia French

Sylvia French, a resident of Bloomfield and daughter of the late John Wesley and Sadie Beal Sailors, was born in Stoddard County on June 15, 1913, and passed away in the Cypress Point Health Care at Dexter Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at the age of 90.

On Feb. 25, 1933, she was united in marriage to John W. French who preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1984.

Mrs. French lived in Bloomfield for many years, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and a fifty-plus year member of Bloomfield Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #385.

Survivors include one son, Charles W. French of Hopkinsville, Ky.; two daughters, Helen Giffin of Bloomfield and Brenda Champ of Bowling Green, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Charles L. French, Benjamin and Jacob Champ, Allen Gibbs, Jr., Cindy Blasa, Julie Hastings, Marina and Tabatha Douglas; eleven great-grandchildren, Samantha Champ, Lauren, Ellen and Charles L. French, II, Katie, Tommy and Brooke Hastings, Joshua and Justin Gibbs, Nathan and Lauren Blasa. Other relatives and friends also survive.

One brother, Floyd Page Sailors and two sisters, Bessie Hahn and Effie Connor, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. Eastern Star rites will be conducted by Bloomfield Chapter #385 at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Dunavin officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery with the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
