Virginia Lee Reed

Virginia Lee Reed, daughter of the late Oscar Eubanks and Daisey Lee Young Eubanks, was born at Gideon on Dec. 29, 1935, and died in the Alexandria Nursing Care in Gastonia, N.C., on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at the age of 67.

Mrs. Reed was a homemaker and lived in Bessemer City, N.C.

She was united in marriage to Leonard Junior Reed on Jan. 20, 1950, at Piggott, Ark. He preceded his wife in death on Sept. 24, 1999.

She is survived by three sons, Donald Reed and Keith Reed, both of Bessemer City, N.C., Timothy Reed of Claremont, N.C.; five daughters, Connie Brauncheidel of Old Town, Fla., Shirley Mehaffie of Dayton, Ohio, Maxine Crawford of Gastonia, N.C., Karen Reed and Elizabeth Reed, both of Bessemer City, N.C.; three brothers, Oscar Eubanks of Poplar Bluff, Kenneth Eubanks of Dexter, and Donald Eubanks of Little Rock, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Other than by her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James Eubanks, Robert Eubanks and Amos Eubanks; five sisters, Mildred Turner, Juanita Davis, Vernice Sivert, Mary Harmon, and Melma Blevins.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
