Oscar J. "Shorty" Brady

Oscar J. "Shorty" Brady, the son of the late Marion and Gladys Birmingham Brady, was born in Walnut Ridge, Ark., on Nov. 17, 1926, and died at the Beverly Health & Rehab Center in Bloomfield on Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at the age of 76.

Mr. Brady had lived in Bloomfield since 1946. He was a retired concrete construction employee of Jarrell's Concrete Co. in Bloomfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.

On March 26, 1948, he was married to Virginia Martin in Piggott, Ark.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Brady of Bloomfield; one son, Martin Brady of Zanesville, Ohio; one daughter, Sandra Pilcher of Clarksville, Tenn.; one brother, Utah Brady of Houston, Texas; and one sister, Winnona McGuire of Gulfport, Miss.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Launa Rambo and Alice McQueen and two brothers, Melton and Rudolph Brady.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Mike Watkins of Dexter officiating.

Interment followed at 11 a.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with the Southeast Missouri Veterans Honor Guard conducting military honors. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service was in charge of all arrangements.
